Forty young job seekers secured employment on the spot at a day-long job fair held in Joypurhat on Wednesday, an initiative aimed at creating employment opportunities for young people and strengthening links between employers and job seekers.
The fair was organised at the Municipal Community Centre under the Recovery and Advancement of Informal Sector Employment (RAISE) project by the Joypurhat Rural Development Movement (JRDM), with support from the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).
The event brought together several reputed local and national companies, enabling job seekers to submit their resumes directly to prospective employers. Organisers said the immediate recruitment of 40 qualified candidates marked a significant achievement of the programme.
Speaking as the chief guest, Joypurhat Deputy Commissioner Al-Mamun Mia highlighted the importance of employment initiatives in addressing youth unemployment. He said such job fairs create valuable opportunities for young people by connecting them directly with employers.
The programme was chaired by Razia Sultana, executive director of JRDM.
Among the special guests were Maksudul Kabir, deputy director of the Department of Youth Development in Joypurhat; Mosharraf Hossain, acting assistant director of the Employment and Manpower Office; Shawkat Ali, director of JRDM; and Shahin Reza, human resources officer, among others.
Speakers at the event said that in today’s highly competitive job market, employment fairs serve as an effective platform for reducing the gap between employers and prospective employees. They described the immediate placement of 40 young men and women as a notable success and expressed hope that similar initiatives would continue in the future.
A large number of job seekers attended the fair, submitting applications and interacting directly with company representatives in search of employment opportunities.
