Bashundhara Shuvosangho has held an awareness meeting to create awareness on child marriage prevention in Moulvibazar’s Kulaura upazila.
The meeting was held by Shuvosangho’s Kulaura
upazila unit at the town’s Muktijoddha Complex on Thursday afternoon.
During the meeting, speakers called on everyone to
become aware to prevent child marriage to ensure safe childhood of children,
right to education and their beautiful future.
The event was presided over by the unit’s Adviser Md
Mosabbir Ali and moderated by Kaler Kantho’s local Correspondent Mahfuz Shakil.
Convener of Kulaura Press Club and senior journalist M Shakil Rashid Chowdhury
spoke at the event as chief guest.
Shakil said, “Effective changes can be brought to
families and the society if the representatives from the young generation
become aware from their own positions. Social organisations like Shuvosangho
should engage them with such good initiatives so that they can become aware
themselves and make others conscious too.”
Mosabbir Ali said, “Courtyard meetings,
awareness-raising events and publicity activities must be conducted on a regular
basis to prevent child marriage. Due to child marriage, many adolescent girls drop
out of their educational lives and the rate of maternal deaths also increases.
To tackle this problem, law enforcement along with social awareness and coordinated
efforts are needed. Shuvosangho’s Kulaura unit always wants to continue such
initiatives.”
