Bashundhara Shuvosangho conducted a dengue awareness
campaign in Kamalapur Union of Patuakhali Sadar Upazila on Monday, with
students and local residents taking part.
The campaign focused on preventing the spread of dengue and
curbing Aedes mosquito breeding by eliminating stagnant water in household
yards, rooftops, flowerpots, discarded containers and surrounding areas.
Speakers urged residents to take collective responsibility
for keeping their homes and neighbourhoods clean, stressing that dengue
prevention was not solely the responsibility of government agencies or health
authorities. They also advised people to seek medical attention promptly if
they develop fever or other dengue symptoms.
The campaign was chaired by Zahirul Islam, president of
Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Patuakhali district branch and a youth climate
activist.
Other participants included organisation members Mehedi
Hasan Rifat, Limon Sikder, Afia Rahman, Nahid Ahmed, Didarul Islam Rifat, Maruf
Islam and Sohana Hossain.
The campaign aimed to raise awareness among students and
residents about dengue prevention and the importance of community action.
