Bashundhara Shuvosangho has stepped forward to help 15 disadvantaged women become self-reliant through sewing skills in Atwari upazila of Panchagarh.

A sewing training workshop is currently underway in Atwari under the initiative of the organisation. The participants are taking part in the workshop held at the Upazila Women Affairs Officer’s office.

The initiative aims to create self-employment opportunities and help women become financially independent. After completing the training, each participant will receive a sewing machine from Bashundhara Shuvosangho, enabling them to work from home and earn an income.

Trainee Jannatun Akter said she had no sewing skills before joining the programme. “Through this training, I am learning the skill and will try to become self-reliant. I hope to support my family by working if I receive a sewing machine,” she said.

Fatiha Ayat Tanha said she was happy to have the opportunity to learn a skill alongside her studies. “I will use this skill in the future to cover my educational expenses,” she said.

Upazila Women Affairs Officer Karuna Kanta Roy said, “Training is essential to developing women's skills. Such initiatives by Bashundhara Shuvosangho will play an important role in building confidence among disadvantaged women and helping them become self-reliant.”
