Bashundhara Shuvosangho has recently held an awareness-raising workshop to prevent dengue at Zindani Degree College in Sirajganj’s Tarash upazila.
During the workshop, discussions were held on dengue
infestation, breeding grounds of aedes mosquito, symptoms of dengue fever and
ways to prevent it.
The event was presided over by Shuvosangho’s General
Secretary Lutfor Rahman, where the acting principal of the college KM Nurul
Islam was present as chief guest.
Speakers said depending on treatment alone is not
enough to prevent dengue, rather houses, educational institutions and surrounding
areas need to be kept clean to stop the breeding and spreading of aedes mosquito.
Specially, accumulated water in flower tubs, unused
tyres, coconut shells, water containers and at other places need to be cleared regularly
to prevent the breeding of aedes mosquito, they added.
Speakers hoped that such workshops can play
important roles to raise awareness among everyone and urged the participants to
play responsible roles from their own positions to prevent dengue.
