Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Nakla upazila unit has held a discussion meeting and distributed leaflets to raise awareness among the public about dengue prevention and stop the breeding of Aedes mosquito.
The meeting, held at Shepur Government Polytechnic
Institute on Wednesday, saw participation from 70 students.
During the meeting, Shuvosangho members warned the
students about reasons behind dengue, risks of infection, breeding grounds of
Aedes mosquito and personal and social duties to prevent the disease.
Shuvosangho’s local unit President Junayed Ahmed
delivered a speech during the meeting, where he said, “Dengue is a big
challenge for public health. It will be tough to control the disease without
preventing the breeding of Aedes mosquito. This is why everyone should keep
their surroundings clean.”
Md Al Amin, a student of the institute, said, “Such
an initiative by Bashundhara Shuvosangho is timely and instructive. We have
learned about the ways to prevent dengue from the discussion. We will try to
keep our surroundings clean and make others aware about the disease from now
on.”
Shuvosangho members distributed leaflets regarding
dengue prevention after the discussion.
