Twenty disadvantaged women are receiving sewing training in
Panchagarh under an initiative by Bashundhara Shuvosangho aimed at helping marginalised
women become financially independent.
The training programme has begun at Anirban Bidyaniketan in
Panchagarh town, bringing together women from disadvantaged backgrounds, widows
and students from poor families in Panchagarh Sadar upazila.
The initiative aims to equip participants with practical
sewing skills so they can earn an income and contribute to their families’
financial well-being.
Among the trainees, Shirin Akter hopes to use her newly
acquired skills to support her family and reduce her dependence on others.
Another participant, Rozina Akter, also plans to earn through sewing after
completing the training and help her family overcome financial difficulties.
Organisers said each participant would receive a sewing
machine from Bashundhara Shuvosangho after completing the training, enabling
them to start working and earn from home.
Suman Islam, president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s
Panchagarh chapter, said the initiative was designed to create opportunities
for self-employment.
