Bashundhara Shuvosangho defeated a combined team of Al Isra Madrasa and Al Isra Institute 3-1 in a friendly football match in Lalmai upazila of Cumilla on Monday night.

The match was held at Bagmara Football Arena and Playground in Saidpur under Bagmara North Union, organised by the Lalmai upazila chapter of Bashundhara Shuvosangho.

Members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, teachers of Al Isra Madrasa and Al Isra Institute, and local professionals participated in the match.

The event was supervised by Shuvosangho Lalmai chapter’s President Dentist Mofizul Islam Munna, and conducted by Bagmara Football Arena and Playground President Mohammad Raihanul Islam.

Maulana Masum Billah Muhajir, vice-president of Shuvosangho’s Lalmai chapter and principal of Al Isra Institute, said the social welfare organisation had undertaken various charity initiatives in the upazila over the past few years. These included free sewing training, sewing machine distribution, educational supplies for underprivileged students, free medical and dental services, food assistance for disadvantaged families, tree planting and health awareness programmes.

He said friendly football matches could help make academic and professional life more enjoyable and engaging, expressing hope that the organisation would continue arranging such events.
