To raise awareness regarding digital safety and promote
responsible internet usage among youth, an interactive seminar on cyber
security was held at Gaibandha Government Women's College on Thursday.
The Gaibandha district unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho
organised the event, which drew the participation of around 300 students.
Gaibandha Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md Shariful Al Razib, PPM, addressed the session as the chief guest and keynote speaker.
Veteran journalist KM Rezaul Haque attended as the
special guest, while College Principal Professor Md Shamsul Haque presided over
the proceedings.
The seminar turned interactive as students posed questions
regarding digital safety, online harassment, and cyberbullying.
Responding to twelfth-grader Nusrat Jahan's query on police recourse for victims of online harassment, Shariful Al Razib outlined existing reporting mechanisms and legal remedies.
He cautioned students against falling
prey to digital manipulation and commended Shuvosangho for organising a timely
intervention.
KM Rezaul Haque noted that without proper digital literacy, students remain vulnerable to cyber threats that can derail their academic and personal lives.
Professor Md Shamsul Haque emphasised that proactive
awareness is vital to protect learners from falling victim to digital fraud,
identity theft, and harassment, urging students to adopt robust digital hygiene
practices.
A quiz competition was held alongside the discussion, with
guests handing over prizes to the winners.
The event was attended, among others, by Shuvosangho
district unit members Humayun Ahmed Biplob, Ahsan Azim Pradhan Nayeem, Ahsania
Tasnim Snigdha, Towhidul Islam, Sohanur Rahman Sohan, Kabya, Rashmoni, and
Alvi, alongside Sadar upazila unit members Samiul Bashir, Sohag Islam, Atiqur
Rahman, and Sagar Khan.
