Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a cleanliness campaign,
handwashing program, and awareness seminar on dengue prevention with primary
school students at Uttar Purba Chhoto Manika Government Primary School in
Borhanuddin, Bhola on Wednesday.
Among those present were Abdur Rahman, president of the
Borhanuddin Upazila branch of Bashundhara Shuvosangho; Towhid Islam Tahin,
event secretary; Shahin Ahmed, publicity secretary; and Executive Members Israt
Jahan Tisha, Nusrat Jahan Tina, Faria, Tamzid, and Rihad, along with other
members of the organization.
The students participated enthusiastically in the program.
As part of the initiative, they cleaned the school premises and surrounding
areas. They were also encouraged to maintain personal hygiene, wash their hands
regularly, and help create a clean and healthy environment.
During the handwashing session, the students were given a
practical demonstration of the proper handwashing technique. The importance of
washing hands thoroughly with soap before and after eating, after using the
toilet, and after returning to school from outside was emphasized.
The students were also reminded that maintaining cleanliness
is important not only for their own health but also for protecting the health
and well-being of their families and communities.
A seminar on dengue prevention was also held as part of the
program. Students and their parents were urged to remain vigilant and take
preventive measures against dengue. The discussion focused on regularly
removing stagnant water from homes and school premises and ensuring that water
does not accumulate in flowerpots, discarded containers, coconut shells, or
other objects that can become mosquito breeding grounds.
The speakers also emphasized the importance of seeking medical advice promptly if symptoms such as fever or other signs associated with dengue appear.
