Bashundhara Shuvosangho on Sunday inaugurated a tube well it
has installed at Basantapur Dakhil Madrasa in Shibganj upazila of
Chapainawabganj to ensure access to safe drinking water for students and
teachers – with funding from Shuvosangho well-wisher Dr Asma.
The inauguration event was presided over by Haji Halim Raj,
president of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Shibganj Upazila Committee. Also
present were Basantapur Dakhil Madrasa Superintendent Mawlana Mohammad Anarul
Islam, Assistant Superintendent Mawlana Abdul Wahab, members of the Shuvosangho
upazila committee, and teachers and students of the madrasa.
Speaking at the event, Haji Halim Raj said, “Access to safe
and pure drinking water is a basic human right. Ensuring safe drinking water
for students at educational institutions is even more important. If financially
capable individuals and social organizations come forward, it is possible to
play an important role in meeting the basic needs of people in remote areas.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho will continue such welfare activities for the benefit
of people in the future.”
Dr Asma said, “Safe drinking water is one of the fundamental
necessities for a healthy and normal life. I provided support for installing
the tube well with the thought that students should not suffer due to a lack of
pure drinking water.” She also expressed her commitment to standing beside
people according to her ability in the future for their needs and welfare.
Madrasa Superintendent Mawlana Mohammad Anarul Islam said
that students and teachers of the madrasa had been in need of safe drinking
water for a long time. With the installation of the tube well, they will now be
able to access safe water easily. On behalf of the madrasa, he expressed his
gratitude and appreciation to everyone involved in the initiative.
