To build
awareness regarding nutritious food intake, personal hygiene, health
guidelines, and the prevention of various diseases, Bashundhara Shuvosangho organized
a health awareness program for young Hifz students at the Baitul Gafur Madrasa
in Charfesson, Bhola on Wednesday.
The
session was presided over by Kawsar Ahmed, member secretary of the Charfesson Upazila
branch of Bashundhara Shuvosangho.
Other
speakers included the upazila branch’s Joint Convenors Md Shakib, Faizul Islam,
Md Ashraful Islam; and teachers and students of Baitul Gafur Madrasa Hifz
department.
Speakers
noted that nutritious food is essential for the physical and mental development
of children and adolescents. Alongside eating regular nutritious and balanced
meals, they emphasized drinking adequate purified water. They suggested
including nutritious foods such as eggs, fish, lentils, milk, leafy greens, and
seasonal fruits in daily diets. At the same time, they advised avoiding foods
prepared with excess oil, spices, artificial colours, and unsafe ingredients.
Special
emphasis was placed on personal hygiene during the program. Students were
educated on washing hands thoroughly with soap before and after meals and after
using the toilet. They were urged to bath regularly, wear clean clothes, keep
nails short and clean, and keep personal belongings tidy.
Mentioning
that Hifz students study and spend time together, heightening risks of
infection spread, speakers said that students must also maintain the
cleanliness of their living spaces, beds, mats, dining areas, and surrounding
environments. If anyone notices skin symptoms such as itching, rashes, sores,
or scabies, they should not hide it; instead, they should inform a teacher or
guardian and seek medical advice when necessary.
Additionally, emphasis was placed on keeping homes, madrasas, and surrounding areas clean to prevent dengue. Students were made aware of quickly removing stagnant water, cleaning accumulated water in flower tubs, abandoned containers, tires, or other items, and protecting themselves from mosquito bites. They were advised not to neglect symptoms of illness such as fever, body aches, and headaches, but to inform teachers or guardians promptly.
