A poster display campaign was held in Galachipa upazila of Patuakhali on Tuesday to raise public awareness about preventing road crashes and encourage compliance with traffic laws.
The Galachipa upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho
organised the programme on the road adjacent to the Galachipa Upazila Parishad
complex in the afternoon. Students and teachers of Base Build Digital Academy,
local dignitaries, and media personnel took part in the event.
Galachipa upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Convener
Md Mizanur Rahman presided over the event, while Member Secretary Md Tarikul
Islam Munna moderated it.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho Patuakhali district coordinator and
Dainik Kaler Kantho Galachipa correspondent Saimun Rahman Elite attended as the
special guest.
Headmaster of Base Build Digital Academy Md Redwan Karim Talal, Director Engr Kawsar Nayem Reza Shuvro, Jaijaidin correspondent Md Riad Hossain, Ekattor TV Dashmina upazila correspondent Ishan Mahmud Shahin, Ganadabi correspondent Md Sumon, and assistant teachers of the school Md Afridi, Prabir Nandi, and Tarun Debnath were also present alongside local residents.
Participants displayed posters on accident causes and
preventive measures, urging pedestrians, drivers, and students to obey traffic
rules and use designated road crossings.
Md Mizanur Rahman pointed out that speeding, reckless driving,
traffic violations, driver negligence, unfit vehicles, and faulty roads remain
the primary causes of accidents, alongside pedestrian carelessness. He urged
drivers to avoid mobile phone use while driving and called on authorities for
strict legal enforcement.
Saimun Rahman Elite said, "A single reckless decision
on the road can snatch away a life. Control your speed, wear helmets, and obey
traffic signals. Reaching home safely, not quickly, should be our
priority."
Member Secretary Md Tarikul Islam Munna and participating
students urged everyone to act responsibly from their respective positions to
curb road fatalities.
