Bashundhara Shuvosangho hosted a discussion meeting at a madrasa in Sylhet on Thursday to encourage backward and disinterested students to increase their interest in education.

Shuvosangho activists also sought to raise awareness about the positive use of technology at the event held at Maulana Abdul Quddus Mohila Hifz Ebtedayi Madrasa in Zakiganj.

The meeting focused on various reasons why students fall behind academically. Speakers particularly highlighted the negative effects of excessive mobile phone use and social media addiction, including reduced concentration, disrupted sleep, wasted time, and adverse impacts on physical and mental well-being.

At the same time, the speakers emphasized the importance of using technology responsibly and taking advantage of its potential for education, knowledge acquisition, and skill development.

Chairman of Jalalabad Business Group Zahed Ahmed Farhan attended the event as the chief guest. Md Nezam Uddin delivered the keynote address, while prominent businessman Koyes Ahmed was present as a special guest.

Also present were Bashundhara Shuvosangho Zakiganj Upazila Branch Vice President Sarwar Hossain Jibon, General Secretary Azadur Rahman, Joint General Secretary Sadhan Dutta, Organizing Secretary Delwar Hossain, and Finance Secretary Saifur Rahman, among others.

The program began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Rifat Jahan. Later, Saud Ahmad performed a song, while Maulana Fakhr Uddin delivered the welcome address.

In his keynote speech, Md Nezam Uddin said, “Bashundhara Shuvosangho should undertake more special initiatives in Zakiganj Upazila. Special training programs should be arranged to develop skilled and confident students.”

He emphasized the need to create opportunities for students to develop various skills alongside their academic studies.

Chief guest Zahed Ahmed Farhan said, “Students are the future of the country. Therefore, their talent, time, and creativity need to be utilized in the right direction. Alongside teachers, we must also pay special attention to students who are falling behind in their education and help them move forward.”
