The University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) branch of Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a football tournament aimed at fostering fraternity, strengthening bonds among students and promoting healthy recreation, while underscoring the role of sports in their physical and mental wellbeing.
The tournament, held on Saturday with enthusiastic participation from university students, created a festive atmosphere on the campus. Lively performances by players, competitive spirit and enthusiastic support from spectators made the event vibrant.
AEM Fahim Hasan, president of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho UITS branch, said the tournament aimed to provide students with opportunities for sports and recreation alongside their academic commitments, strengthen interpersonal relationships and encourage young people to engage in healthy and positive activities.
“Sports play an important role not only in improving physical fitness but also in developing leadership, teamwork, discipline and tolerance among young people,” he said.
Participants said such initiatives created renewed enthusiasm among students and provided an opportunity to refresh themselves through sports amid academic pressure and busy schedules.
They also expressed hope that the organisation would continue arranging similar sporting and social activities.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho has long been involved in initiatives focused on education, social awareness, humanitarian assistance, environmental conservation and sports, alongside engaging young people in positive and socially responsible activities.
Members of the organisation said there was no substitute for sports in ensuring students’ physical and mental wellbeing alongside intellectual development.
They said similar initiatives would continue to involve young people in healthy, constructive and positive activities.
