As part of its nationwide initiative to protect the
environment through tree plantation, Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a tree
plantation programme at Barishal University (BU) on Sunday.
The programme was held in front of the university's school
building, where various fruit-bearing and medicinal saplings, including mango,
jackfruit, guava and neem, were planted.
Assistant Proctor of the university Dr Gazi Sakhawat Hossain
was present at the programme. Also present were Bashundhara Shuvosangho
Barishal University branch General Secretary Mehrab Hossain, Vice-President Nur
Islam Nion, Assistant Organising Secretary Shimu Akter, Office Secretary
Abdullah Al Mamun, and Event Secretary Sumaiya Siraj Simi, among others.
Assistant Proctor Dr Gazi Sakhawat Hossain said, "This
is a very wonderful initiative. I will always stand by you in any such positive
and good endeavour. Trees are our best friends. However, our responsibility
does not end with planting trees; it is also necessary to ensure their proper
care. I hope you will take good care of these saplings."
Mehrab Hossain, general secretary of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Barishal University branch, said, "Alongside protecting the environment, one of our main goals is to encourage students to develop an interest in planting trees. Bashundhara Shuvosangho has always been working on humanitarian and social development initiatives."
