Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a cyber consultancy seminar at Rajshahi Bahumukhi Balika High School on Tuesday to raise awareness among students about cybercrime and promote safe digital practices.
Around
120 students from Classes IX and X participated in the awareness programme,
which aimed to equip them with the knowledge needed to become responsible and
safe digital citizens.
Organised
by the Rajshahi district unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, the seminar focused
on protecting students from online threats such as cyberbullying, phishing,
identity theft, online fraud and blackmail.
The
participants were also introduced to practical strategies for using the
internet safely through real-life examples.
The
seminar was chaired by Shuvosangho Rajshahi district unit President Md Zulfikar
Ali Haider and moderated by General Secretary Sumaiya Haque.
Rajshahi
Metropolitan Jubo Dal Member Secretary Rafiqul Islam Robi attended the event as
the chief guest.
Addressing
the students, he said that in today's digital age, academic knowledge alone is
not enough, and students must also understand online risks, cybercrime and the
importance of protecting their personal information.
He
praised Bashundhara Shuvosangho for organising what he described as a timely
and socially important initiative.
The
keynote speaker, Sheikh Romena Yasmin, discussed key aspects of cyber security
and advised students to use strong and unique passwords, enable two-factor
authentication (2FA) and avoid sharing personal information unnecessarily.
She
also warned them about the risks of phishing links, fake websites, fraudulent
messages and suspicious links sent by unknown individuals, stressing that OTPs,
passwords and banking information should never be shared with anyone.
Executive
member Samiul Islam Snigdha and Finance Secretary Tahsin Sheikh also addressed
the seminar, encouraging students to use technology responsibly and
highlighting the importance of digital ethics.
The
event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where students
sought advice on issues including social media security, online harassment,
hacked accounts, fake profiles, protection of personal information and
cyberbullying.
