Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a discussion session at the Betagi Press Club auditorium on Saturday, marking the “Nazrul Year,” which ends on 25 May 2027.

Speakers at the event said that Kazi Nazrul Islam was not only the Rebel Poet but also a timeless symbol of equality, humanity, love and communal harmony. They noted that his ideals and literary works remain equally relevant in contemporary society.

The programme was chaired by Alhaj Kamal Hossain Khan, president of the Betagi Press Club and president of the Betagi Upazila branch of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, and was moderated by Swapan Kumar Dhali, adviser to the branch and correspondent of Kaler Kantho.

Teachers, writers, cultural personalities, students and people from different walks of life attended the event.

Md Nurul Islam Panna, former joint general secretary of the Betagi Upazila BNP, said such initiatives are vital to introducing Nazrul's ideals and literary legacy to the younger generation. He stressed the need for regular programmes to encourage literary and cultural activities among young people.
