Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a career guidance seminar
at the Eden Mohila College branch to help students prepare for their future
careers.
At the seminar titled "Journey to the Future: A
Dialogue on Career Guidance," participants learned how to develop their
skills from university life, prepare for more advanced education, cultivate
leadership qualities and equip themselves for the job market.
The keynote speaker was Christina Arpa Gomez, who is
currently serving as a fellow-researcher at the Bangladesh Legal Aid and
Services Trust (BLAST). She also serves as a member of the Executive Committee
for External Relations and Partnerships of the National Youth Council on
Population, Development and SRHR under the Directorate General of Family
Planning (DGFP).
She said that academic qualifications alone are no longer
sufficient in today's competitive world. Students must develop technological
competence, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, leadership
qualities, teamwork and effective time management. She encouraged students to
continuously acquire new skills, engage in voluntary work, participate in
research and extracurricular activities, and work consistently to enhance their
personal capabilities.
She also shared practical guidance on higher education, job
preparation, CV writing, interview skills, personal branding and future career
planning. Later, she answered various questions from students and provided
personalised advice on their career plans.
The seminar was chaired by Faria Haque Tajim, president of
the Eden Mohila College branch of Bashundhara Shuvosangho. Other attendees included
Nijhum Nishi, Sumaiya Akter, Jannatul Ferdous, Fahima Akter Ritu, and Mosammat
Poly Akter.
