Bashundhara Shuvosangho provided emergency relief supplies to flood-affected families in Bandarban as heavy rains and hill torrents inundated low-lying areas of the district, leaving many people without safe food, drinking water and essential medicines.
The organisation distributed relief packages among 60 flood-hit families in Bikirichharamukh Lemujhiri Charui Para under Ward No 4 of Kuhalong Union in Bandarban Sadar upazila.
The families remained stranded by floodwaters for three days as continuous rainfall disrupted communication in many remote areas. Bashundhara Shuvosangho reached the affected communities and delivered essential supplies to ease their hardship.
Each relief package included 1kg of puffed rice, 500 grams of toast biscuits, a packet of candles, a lighter, five packets of oral rehydration saline (ORS), a strip of water purification tablets, a strip of paracetamol tablets and five litres of safe drinking water.
A beneficiary said the families had spent three days surrounded by floodwaters without access to safe drinking water and adequate food. She expressed gratitude to Bashundhara Shuvosangho for standing beside them during the difficult time.

Bashundhara Shuvosangho Chattogram Hill Tracts region coordinator and Bandarban district unit President Uyai Sing Marma said supporting people during disasters remained the organisation's moral responsibility.
"We have come with emergency relief supplies to reduce the suffering of flood-affected people. Bashundhara Shuvosangho continues to work so that no one remains helpless during humanitarian crises," he said.
He also urged individuals, organisations and humanitarian groups to come forward and support flood victims from their respective positions, saying collective efforts could reduce the suffering of affected communities.
Local residents said the timely relief support from Bashundhara Shuvosangho brought relief to people in remote areas. They said the initiative gave new hope to families struggling during the crisis.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho members including Bandarban district unit members Waimong Marma, Sultanul Arefin, Mahiuddin Hossain, Ubasaiing Marma and Kohai Khumi joined the relief distribution programme. They visited affected areas, checked on residents and raised awareness about safe water use and health precautions.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho has long supported communities affected by natural disasters across Bangladesh. The organisation regularly provides emergency relief, food, medical supplies and other assistance to people affected by floods, cyclones, cold waves, fires and other emergencies.
