Bashundhara Shuvosangho distributed fruit saplings among young footballers in Swarupkathi on Sunday as part of its nationwide tree plantation campaign to promote environmental conservation and inspire children to care for nature.
The Swarupkathi upazila unit of the organisation handed over the saplings to children during their training session at the Government Swarupkathi Pilot Model Secondary School ground.
The programme formed part of Bashundhara Shuvosangho's drive to encourage tree planting and help build a greener and more sustainable future.
Kaler Kantho correspondent and Shuvosangho adviser Hazrat Ali Hiru led the programme. Upazila unit President Mohibullah, General Secretary Md Alamgir Hossain, Joint General Secretary Masudul Alam Opu, Organising Secretary Mostakim Billah Raju, Joint Cultural Secretary Mugdha Hasan and member Ramzan Ali Rakib also joined the distribution.
The organisers distributed saplings of mango, blackberry, guava, jackfruit, litchi and other fruit-bearing trees. They also encouraged the young footballers to plant and nurture the saplings to ensure healthy growth.
Hazrat Ali Hiru said Bashundhara Shuvosangho had launched the nationwide tree plantation campaign under the guidance of its chief patron, Imdadul Haq Milon, to help protect the environment.
"Today we have handed over fruit saplings to young players as part of that initiative. We want to encourage children to plant trees and benefit from the fruits they produce in the future," he said.
Football coaches Nasir Ahmed Rafiq and Md Humayun Kabir Khokon praised the initiative, saying it would encourage children to care for the environment while supporting their physical and mental development.
They thanked Bashundhara Shuvosangho for promoting a love of trees among the younger generation through such meaningful activities.
