Awareness leaflets on responsible tourism distributed at Kuakata

Bashundhara Shuvosangho members distributed awareness raising leaflets on responsible tourism and cleanliness among tourists at different points of Kuakata, Patuakhali on Monday.

While distributing the leaflets, the activists also spoke to people about the importance of protecting the environment, and showing respect for local culture and people.

Shuvosangho’s Kuakata town unit President Md Saidur Rahman, Vice-President Hosain Amir, General Secretary Jahidul Islam Jahid and others took part in the campaign.

The leaflets they distributed instructed the readers to avoid littering on the sea beach, reducing use of plastics and polythene, conserving the coastal and marine biodiversity, and honouring the culture and livelihood of local people.

Only these efforts can help sustain the natural beauties and tourism appeal of Kuakata, the leaflets stressed.

Upon receiving the papers, the tourists expressed their satisfaction at the campaign efforts, saying such initiatives can make tourism meaningful. Many tourists pledged to follow the guidelines inscribed in the leaflets.
