The Rowmari upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised an iftar with low-income residents in Kurigram’s Rowmari upazila on Friday to promote harmony and compassion during Ramadan.

The committee arranged the programme at Modhya Notan Para Jame Mosque in the afternoon. Low-income families, local dignitaries and members of the upazila Shuvosangho committee joined the gathering.

Organisers said they took the initiative to strengthen social cohesion and empathy among people from different backgrounds.

Upazila unit President Masud Parvez Rubel attended the event along with Sports Secretary Ridoy Islam, Executive Members Rony Sarkar Nirob, Rafin Ahmed Mukul, Mehedi Hasan and Rahim Rezwan, among others. Local residents, including Shafiqul Islam and Badiuzzaman, also joined the iftar.

Masud Parvez Rubel said Ramadan teaches restraint and service to humanity. He said the organisation seeks to stand beside low-income people and uphold its slogan, “Beside everyone in good deeds”.

Several local participants said they felt encouraged to take part in humanitarian initiatives led by Shuvosangho and expressed hope that the organisation would continue such activities in the future.

Some low-income attendees said the arrangement brought them special joy and helped them feel more connected to society by sharing iftar together. Organisers said they plan to continue similar social and humanitarian programmes regularly in Rowmari upazila.
