Bashundhara Shuvosangho arranged a distinctive awareness campaign titled “The campus is ours, keeping it clean is our responsibility” at Jagannath University (JnU).

The campaign started in front of the university’s Central Shaheed Minar at 12:30pm on Wednesday. During the programme, students were urged to play a responsible role in maintaining cleanliness and protecting the environment.

Led by Bashundhara Shuvosangho Jagannath University unit President Md Junayet Sheikh, the awareness campaign was joined by Shuvosangho members Toufik Hossain, Mawa Lisha, Arobi, Naimur, Suhail, Labib Basunia, Pakhi, Sofia, Rakib Rifat, Ayesha, Fatema, Saiful Islam, Mahfuzur Rahman, along with a large group of young volunteers.

At the event, Saiful Islam, a student of the 2022–23 session of the Department of Islamic Studies, said, “To build a clean campus, every student must be conscious from their own position. By engaging with various social welfare organisations, such constructive initiatives can be further strengthened.”

Mahfuzur Rahman, a student of the same session from the Department of Economics, said, “Such awareness programmes are extremely necessary for us. To ensure environmental sustainability, we must take the initiative ourselves. If we want future generations to live safely, we must ourselves become conscious about environmental protection from now on. If we students become aware, the whole of Bangladesh can change.”

Md Junayet Sheikh, said, “Every student should consider the campus as their own home. Food waste, garbage or pieces of paper should not be thrown here and there; they must be disposed of in designated dustbins. Through today’s campaign, environmental awareness among students will increase and a sustainable environment will be ensured.”
