Shuvosangho stands by underprivileged Manta children

Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Barishal University unit has distributed educational materials among children of the floating and underprivileged Manta community to help pave the way for a brighter future through education.
The distribution programme was held on Saturday among Manta students living along the banks of the Khairabad River adjacent to Barishal University.
The initiative was taken particularly for Manta children who remain deprived of education due to their river-dependent lifestyle.
The distributed items included books, notebooks, pens, pencils, cutters, erasers, along with different types of toys and food. To support students’ mental development, indoor games were also provided.
‘Batighar’, an organisation run by students of Barishal University, has been working to spread the light of education among Manta children. Bashundhara Shuvosangho Barishal University unit distributed educational materials, toys and food among Manta children attending classes at Batighar.
Among those present were Bashundhara Shuvosangho Barishal University unit president Tanjid Shah Jalal Emon, general secretary Mehrab Hossain, organising secretary Arif Hossain, finance secretary Md Abu Ubaida, office secretary Abdullah Al Mamun, executive members Ferdous Mahmud Noor, Aditi Sarkar Mondira, Rifat Jahan Riyamoni, and other members of the organisation.
From Batighar, president Asha Moni, general secretary Hisrat Neha, vice-president Fattahur Rafi, members Umme Hafsa, Keya and others were present. They expressed appreciation for Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s support.
The children expressed excitement after receiving the gifts.
General secretary of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Barishal University unit Mehrab Hossain said, “With the slogan ‘Good deeds first’, Bashundhara Shuvosangho continues its work. We want no child to lag behind in education. Within our capacity, we distributed educational materials among them today, and they were delighted to receive these.”
