Special meeting held in Thakurgaon to address local problems, propose solutions

A special meeting focused on identifying local problems and proposing effective solutions was held in Thakurgaon under the initiative of the Bashundhara Shuvosangho Pirganj upazila unit.
The meeting took place on Monday at the Pirganj Press Club hall
room, with the organisation’s President, Tarek Hossain, in the chair.
Along with Shuvosangho members, local dignitaries, journalists,
social activists, and leaders of the Pirganj Press Club were present at the
discussion.
Speakers included Vice-President Rajiur Rahman Raja, General
Secretary Delwar Hossain Dulal, Joint Secretary Badol Hossain, Organising
Secretary Saidur Rahman Manik, Publicity and Publication Secretary Faidul
Islam, Sports Secretary Belal Hossain, Social Welfare Secretary Nosin Abrar
Labannya, and Executive Members Asaduzzaman Asad and Sajedur Rahman Sazu.
Guest speakers included Pirganj Press Club President Joynal Abedin
Babul, General Secretary Nashro-de Khoda Rana, Vice-President Fazlul Fakir,
Joint Secretary Monsur Ali, and journalist Mamunur Rashid Mamun.
During the meeting, Shuvosangho members highlighted a range of
pressing social and environmental issues in Pirganj and presented
recommendations.
Key proposals included: establishing public toilets in Pirganj
municipality, launching skill development and income-generation programmes for
underprivileged women, initiating awareness campaigns on earthquake and fire
safety, educating farmers on the harmful impact of excessive pesticide use,
advising farmers amid the ongoing fertiliser crisis, encouraging the use of
organic fertilisers, preventing child marriage, addressing drug abuse and
domestic violence through social movements, providing humanitarian assistance
during cold spells, strengthening drought mitigation and water management
strategies, preventing the filling of rivers and canals, preserving natural
water flow, raising awareness against deforestation and biodiversity loss, and
enhancing Shuvo Sangha’s role in tackling irregularities at the community
level.
Speakers noted that as a youth-led organisation, Bashundhara
Shuvosangho has already undertaken various humanitarian activities in support
of the poor and vulnerable in Pirganj.
Expressing gratitude to the organisation’s central leadership, they
stressed the need to expand and regularise Shuvosangho’s initiatives to foster
positive social change in the area.
The meeting concluded with members reaffirming their commitment to
work collectively toward social development, environmental protection, and
humanitarian support.
