Bashundhara Shuvosangho has donated a bundle of corrugated
tins to a meritorious college student to help her repair the roof of her family
house in Agailjhara upazila, Barishal.
Since 2022, Shanta Halder has regularly received support
from Bashundhara Shuvosangho to continue her studies. She lives with her ailing
mother in a dilapidated house in the upazila.
Recently the living conditions inside the house became
intolerable due to the frail roof. Shuvosangho’s donated tins would help
rebuild the roof, Shanta hopes.
During the tin handover ceremony on Monday, SM Omar Ali
Sunny, adviser at Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s upazila unit, and Md Saifur Rahman
Titu, a member of Jubo Dal’s upazila unit, were present. Shanta’s mother received
the donations.
At the event, Shanta recalled the crucial supports she
received from Bashundhara Shuvosangho in the past.
Shanta passed SSC exams with GPA-5 from Science section from
Kathira Adrasha Biddyaniketan in Kathira village of the upazila. But afterwards,
it became impossible for her to continue her studies due to financial
constraints. Upon learning her ordeals, Bashundhara Shuvosangho stepped in.
They ensured her admission to Agailjhara Degree College,
bought books for her and paid for all other educational expenses. Shanta
successfully passed higher secondary exams with the supports she received.
Now she does tuition, and other odd jobs while pursuing her
studies. She pays for her the family and the medical treatment for her mother,
who suffers from cardiac, breathing, and other complications.
The mother has thanked Bashundhara Group’s Chairman for the
support he and his conglomerate has continued to provide for her family.
