Bashundhara Shuvosangho has stepped forward to support education for underprivileged and orphaned children in northern Bangladesh, where access to learning materials remains limited.
Many children in the region struggle to continue their studies due to a lack of essential school supplies.
On Friday (14 Nov), the Fulbari unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a distribution programme at Panikata Dargabari Hafizia Orphanage Madrasa, located in Ward-2 of Eluari Union under Fulbari upazila in Dinajpur.
Students of the madrasa, teachers and local dignitaries attended the event.
The programme was presided over by Hafiz Maulana Md Ibrahim Shah, principal of the madrasa. Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Fulbari unit President Md Sohel Rana, Joint General Secretary Al-Amin, and member Sohag, among others, were also present.
During the event, students received notebooks, pens, pencils and various essential learning materials. The children expressed joy and excitement upon receiving the gifts.
Speaking at the event, madrasa principal Maulana Ibrahim Shah said the institution is located in one of the poorest areas of the upazila.
“Children here suffer from a shortage of basic educational materials. This initiative by Bashundhara Shuvosangho will play an important role in expanding educational opportunities for them. We hope more organisations will come forward with similar efforts,” he added.
Teachers noted that despite various hardships, students at the orphanage are eager to pursue their studies. The newly received materials, they said, will boost the children’s confidence and motivation.
Local residents praised the humanitarian initiative, saying Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s efforts have set an example for promoting social awareness and education development in Fulbari. They expressed hope that such activities would continue in the future, enabling even more children in the area to benefit from educational support.
The programme concluded with prayers seeking long life and good health for Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan.
