Sewing training centre opens for underprivileged trainees in Moulvibazar

Bashundhara Shuvosangho, the social initiative of the country’s leading industrial group Bashundhara, inaugurated its new Sewing Training Centre on Thursday at 3:00pm at Moulvibazar Hafiza Khatun High School. Muhibur Rahman Muheb, president of the district unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, presided over the event.

The inauguration ceremony was conducted by Abu Taher Ranar, general secretary of Bashundhara Shuvosangho. 

Speakers at the programme included Khasru Chowdhury, secretary of the Haor Protection Movement Committee; ASM Saleh Sohel, member of the National Environmental Movement; Nurul Islam Seful, president of part of Moulvibazar Press Club; senior lawyer Mostak Ahmad Mom; senior journalist Mamunur Rashid; Anhar Ahmad Samshad, general secretary of the district unit of Bangladesh Journalists’ Association; Sheikh Sirajul Islam Siraj, adviser of Bashundhara Shuvosangho district branch and district correspondent of News 24 TV; Syed Boitul Ali, district correspondent of Bangladesh Pratidin; and the sewing instructors and trainees of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Training Centre.

The sewing training centre was launched to empower underprivileged students and women. The programme has started with 15 trainees learning sewing skills under the guidance of a skilled and experienced trainer.

The free training programme will run for three months starting this November, with classes held every Friday and Saturday. Upon completion, each trainee will receive a sewing machine from Bashundhara Group to help them achieve self-reliance.
