Villagers in Faridpur seek protection from alleged harassment by influential man

Residents of Mangal Kort village in Faridpur Sadar upazila have held a press conference and formed a human chain, accusing a local influential man of harassing them in various ways.

At a human chain held at Mangal Kort Bazar at 6pm on Sunday, several alleged victims accused Abdul Salam Pramanik of subjecting local people to harassment for a long time.

They alleged that he takes back possession of land even after transferring ownership to others. They also accused him of attempting to occupy disputed land by presenting fake court decrees and using people allegedly hired for the purpose.

They further alleged that anyone who speaks out against his activities faces threats and mental harassment.

The villagers called for a fair investigation into the allegations and justice from the authorities.
