Actress Pori Moni has been served a legal notice demanding an unconditional written apology within seven days over alleged life-threatening remarks and indecent comments directed at a journalist on the premises of a Dhaka court on Thursday.

Supreme Court lawyer Khundkar Hasan Shahriyar sent the notice, also urging the Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the actress.

The notice was addressed to Pori Moni, a member of the association, as well as its president Shiba Shanu and general secretary Joy Chowdhury.

It demanded that the actress issue a written apology within seven days of receiving the notice and refrain from making obscene remarks, issuing threats, or performing obscene acts, gestures or nude or semi-nude dances in future audiovisual and other productions.

The lawyer also asked the association’s president and general secretary to issue a show-cause notice to the actress and take necessary disciplinary action against her within seven days of receiving the legal notice.

The notice warned that failure to comply with its demands would prompt the lawyer to pursue legal action under existing laws.
