State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury on Saturday asked ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to return to the country and face the trial.
The State Minister made the call during a rally organised by
Nandail Upazila unit of the BNP, to mark the National Revolution and Solidarity
Day.
Speaking as chief guest, the State Minister said, "You
fled after killing people, and now you are merely issuing threats via social
media. However, the people of the country have seen through these threats. You
must return to the country now. Do not come back in secret; return openly, we
will even provide the ticket if needed."
He asserted that those responsible for disenfranchising the
people, engaging in corruption and plunder, carrying out enforced disappearances
and murders over the past years and shedding the blood of women and children
who were martyred during the July mass uprising, will face justice on the soil
of the country.
He further warned that those who have fled will be brought
to the dock handcuffed.
Addressing local party activists and the public, the State
Minister stated that the country is currently advancing toward development
under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
He urged everyone to resist any conspiracies or acts of chaos orchestrated by those seeking to obstruct this progress. He also called on the public to promptly hand over any suspicious individuals to law enforcement agencies.
Highlighting various development initiatives in Nandail,
Yasser Khan noted that 186 roads in the area have already been paved with brick
soling, with allocations secured for an additional 104 roads. Furthermore,
grants totaling taka 115 million have been obtained for the renovation of
various roads.
Thirty-six houses have been provided for the rehabilitation
of the homeless and there are plans to construct another 104 houses this year.
Furthermore, he mentioned that the construction of bridges at Jahangirpur and
Charbetagoir, along with the approval process for buildings for 23 educational
institutions, is currently underway.
Expressing his gratitude to the party activists and the
general people, he said, "I have been working as your servant and I wish
to continue serving you in the future. We shall remain united in the pursuit of
development, on the streets and against all conspiracies."
The rally, held at the Chandipasha School grounds in Nandail, drew a massive crowd. Local BNP leaders, activists and a large number of ordinary citizens participated in the event.
