Miscreants set fire to a bus of Baishakhi Paribahan in the capital’s Baridhara area on Friday evening.
No casualties were reported in the incident, which took place around 5:45pm.
Police said the bus operates on the Savar-Notun Bazar route. It was set on fire by two to three miscreants who fled the scene shortly after the bus dropped off passengers in the Baridhara area.
Being informed, two firefighting units from Baridhara Fire Station rushed to the spot and doused the blaze.
Police said no clear CCTV (closed-circuit television) footage of the incident was available. They were analysing footage from nearby areas to identify those involved.
Vatara police station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Mazharul Islam said the bus driver and his assistant were taken into custody for questioning.
“Police are working to bring the perpetrators to book,” he added.
