Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Monirul Islam passed
the order after a hearing, said State Prosecutor Shamsuddoha Sumon.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Dwip was placed on a three-day
remand for interrogation in the case. He had previously been placed on a
four-day remand on 31 October following his arrest.
Another suspect, Jerika Tasnim Disha, a friend of
Tahsif, is also on remand in the case.
On Thursday, Inspector Firoz Uddin of the Tongi
River Police outpost, who is also the investigating officer in the case, sought
a fresh seven-day remand for Dwip to facilitate a proper investigation.
According to the remand petition, Dwip told
investigators that he, Tahsif and Disha went to a motorcycle garage on 27
October. They later visited CP Five Star Snacks several times and went to Nest
Bar & Restaurant in Uttara, where all three drank beer. Disha subsequently
left for home.
At around 12:40am on 28 October, Tahsif and Dwip
reached Tongi Mazar Basti and headed towards a field beside the Turag River.
After spotting some people there, they separated, Dwip reportedly told
investigators.
The petition claimed that Dwip had provided
important information about the incident but avoided answering several
questions during interrogation. It added that he needed to be questioned
further to uncover the motive behind the incident and identify others involved.
Tahsif went missing after leaving home on the
evening of 27 October in response to a call from his junior friend, Dwip. River
Police recovered his body from the Rajabari Ghat area of the Turag River the
following afternoon.
Later, Tahsif's father, KM Enayetul Karim, filed a
murder case against unidentified people with Uttarkhan police station in the
capital at 1:05am on 30 October. Police subsequently showed Dwip arrested in
the case as a suspect.
