National workshop on master plans for 63 municipalities 10 November

A national workshop on the preparation of master plans for 63 municipalities across the country will be held on 10 November to discuss progress, planning strategies and future implementation.

The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) is preparing the master plans under its Inclusive Urban Governance and Infrastructure Project (IUGIP).

The workshop will begin at 10:00am at the Kamrul Islam Milon Auditorium on the second floor of the LGED Bhaban in the capital.

The Secretary of the Local Government Division, LGED Chief Engineer, Project Director of IUGIP, representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the French Development Agency (AFD), engineers involved in preparing the master plans, municipal administrators and urban planners are expected to attend the event.

The workshop will review the progress of master plan preparation for the 63 municipalities and discuss planned and inclusive urbanisation, future directions for urban development and the role of master plans in ensuring sustainable municipal development.

The initiative aims to promote planned urban growth and strengthen the development framework of the municipalities through comprehensive master plans.
