The Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) has expressed deep concern over the reported taking of its permanent member and DBC News Special Correspondent Rajib Ghosh to the Detective Branch (DB) office for questioning.

In a statement issued on Wednesday (November 4), DRU President Abu Saleh Akon and General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel voiced the concern on behalf of the organisation's executive committee.

They said the incident had raised concern among members of the journalist community, stressing that any action by law enforcement agencies must comply with existing laws and due legal procedures.

The DRU leaders added that any allegations against a journalist should be addressed through established legal processes. They also stressed the need for transparency and accountability in such incidents to protect press freedom and journalists' professional rights.

The organisation called for Rajib Ghosh's whereabouts to be immediately made clear to his family and colleagues. It also demanded his prompt release if there were no legal grounds for detaining him.
