PM approves Tk3cr for Christmas celebrations

The government has approved Tk3 crore in financial assistance for the Christian community to celebrate Christmas, with Prime Minister (PM) Tarique Rahman directing an additional Tk1 crore beyond the Tk2 crore initially sought by the Christian Religious Welfare Trust.

The fund will be disbursed in favour of the trust from the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund through the Ministry of Religious Affairs ahead of Christmas celebration on 25 December, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a press release.

According to the summary submitted to the PM, the trust will organise various religious and social welfare activities across the country on this occasion.

In this regard, the ministry proposed special financial assistance from the fund to support the celebrations.

The PM's decision to increase the proposed allocation demonstrates an additional financial commitment to supporting the Christian community’s religious celebrations.
