Vehicles using the Dhaka Elevated Expressway will be exempt from paying the toll for six hours on 7 November on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day.

The toll-free facility will remain in effect from 6am to 12 noon, allowing motorists to use the expressway without charge during the period.

The Bangladesh Bridge Authority announced the decision in a press release on Tuesday.

Earlier, the expressway was kept toll-free for four hours on 25 December last year, when BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman returned home from London after nearly 17 years. The BNP organised a mass reception to welcome him.

Before that, vehicles were allowed to use the expressway without paying a toll for some time after toll plazas were damaged during the July Mass Uprising.

The Dhaka Elevated Expressway is being constructed under a public-private partnership (PPP).

A section of the expressway was opened to traffic in September 2023. Currently, motorists can use the stretch from Kawla, near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, to the FDC intersection in the capital.
