Unidentified assailants set fire to a passenger bus in front
of the Matuail Medical College in Kadamtali, Dhaka late on Monday, and
fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
The bus of “Srabon Paribahan” caught fire around 11:50pm on
Monday, and the fire service reached the spot seven minutes later.
Around 12:33am on Tuesday, two units of the fire service from
the Kanchpur fire station brought the situation under control, said Rafi Al
Faruk, duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Kadamtali Police Station Sub-Inspector Hasan Rahman said the
bus had already been burnt by the time police reached the area.
The driver and helper had parked the bus next to the
hospital, and went somewhere nearby to have dinner. When they returned, they
saw the bus on fire, the police officer told reporters.
On Monday, crude bombs were exploded in Agargaon and
Dhanmondi. Even though the perpetrators behind these incidents were yet to be identified,
Awami League, a banned political party, is allegedly ramping up sabotage
attempts ahead of December.
