Newly elected Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) lawmaker from Thakurgaon-1 Mirza Faisal Amin on Sunday said that he will raise the demand for open-market fertiliser sales in parliament to ensure easy access to fertiliser for farmers.

He also pledged to launch an anti-drug campaign in coordination with the administration immediately after taking oath as a member of parliament.

He made the announcements while addressing a post-election reception organised by Bhulli unit of BNP at the grounds of Bhulli Kumarpur High School in Thakurgaon.

Faisal Amin said he wanted to work with people from all walks of life to build a modern Thakurgaon and fulfil people’s expectations.

Describing his election victory as a collective achievement, he said, "This victory is not just for BNP or me; it belongs to you, the grassroots leaders and activists."

He sought cooperation from party leaders, activists and local people in carrying out development activities in the constituency.

District BNP General Secretary Poygam Ali, Joint General Secretary Sharif, Organising Secretary Zafurullah, Sadar Upazila BNP President Abdul Hamid and General Secretary Mahabub Hossain Tuhin, among others, attended the programme.

Earlier on 29 October, Mirza Faisal Amin clinched victory in the Thakurgaon-1 by-poll with 227,917 votes while nearest contestant Delawar Hosen of the Jamaat-led alliance bagged 96,513 votes.
