Fisheries, Livestock, and Agriculture Minister Mohammed Amin Ur Rashid on Sunday urged newly appointed public service officers to execute their duties with honesty, dedication, and professionalism, applying their intellect and skill to shape the nation's future.
"The country's future significantly hinges on
your decisions and sense of responsibility," the minister said while
addressing an orientation programme for newly appointed officers of the 45th
BCS (Fisheries and Livestock) cadres at the Ministry’s conference room in the
Bangladesh Secretariat, said a press release.
Noting that a government officer’s career spans
roughly 25 to 32 years, the minister emphasised that this long tenure offers an
extensive opportunity for policy formulation and implementation.
He called upon the officers to work collectively,
driven by patriotism, to build a safer, more liveable, and prosperous
Bangladesh for future generations.
Highlighting food safety, Rashid stressed that
safety must be ensured not only in the final production of fish, meat, milk,
and eggs, but also across all inputs used in the production process.
He specifically tasked the young officers with
taking an active role in curbing the indiscriminate use of antibiotics in the livestock
and fisheries sectors.
Antibiotic residues entering the human body through
food heighten the risk of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), making the rational
and controlled use of antibiotics imperative, he warned.
State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan
Salauddin Tuku remarked that success at every stage of life requires struggle,
perseverance, and dedication.
He urged the new officers to demonstrate competence
in the workplace and fulfill state expectations with strong moral standards.
The state minister exhorted the officers to keep
patriotism at the core of their service, invoking Prime Minister Tarique
Rahman’s spirit of "Bangladesh First" to build a bright and
prosperous future for coming generations.
He also stressed the strict adherence to laws,
rules, and regulations in carrying out official responsibilities to meet public
expectations.
The event was attended by Fisheries and Livestock
Secretary Md Delwar Hossain, Director General of the Department of Livestock
Services Md Shahzaman Khan, Director General of the Department of Fisheries Md
Khaled Kanak, senior ministry officials, and 46 newly recruited officers, 25
from the Fisheries cadre and 21 from the Livestock cadre.
