A Dhaka
court on Sunday placed Jerika Tasnim Disha, a female friend of former Air Force
officer KM Tahsif Souri, on a four-day remand over the alleged killing of the
former military officer.
Dhaka
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ripon Hossain granted the remand, after police
sought to put her on a seven-day remand, said Public Prosecutor Shamsuddoha
Sumon.
She was
arrested from her residence in Ibrahimpur under Kafrul Police Station in Dhaka
at around 2:00am on 1 November.
According
to the remand petition, investigators reviewed CCTV footage from different
locations in Uttara and found that Tahsif and Disha had visited “Nest Bar and
Restaurant” in Uttara on the night of 27 October, hours before the alleged
murder.
They also
visited “CP Five Star Snacks” several times that evening, and CCTV footage
showed the two visiting a motorcycle garage together.
According
to the petition, an analysis of Tahsif's mobile phone call records also
revealed multiple communications between him and Disha. Police claimed that
preliminary investigations had found evidence suggesting Disha's involvement in
the murder.
Another
suspect in the case, Ahmed Shahriar Reza Dwip, 23, is currently in police custody
on remand. Investigators said it was necessary to cross-check the statements of
Disha and Dwip.
The investigation officer cited six grounds for seeking a seven-day remand to interrogate Disha. These include uncovering the motive behind the murder, identifying and arresting other unidentified suspects, recovering evidence used in the killing, determining the crime scene, cross-checking the statements of Disha and Dip, and verifying the accuracy of their statements.
