Nayab Yusuf vows to boost char region economy

Faridpur-3 Member of Parliament Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf has pledged to improve the living standards of underprivileged communities in the char areas and boost the rural economy.

“One of the government’s key priorities is to improve the livelihoods of people in char areas and strengthen the rural economy,” she said at a programme to distribute heifer calves among farmers in Faridpur on Saturday. 

Sadar Upazila Livestock Department and Veterinary Hospital organised the programme, which the lawmaker inaugurated as the chief guest.

The distribution programme was organised under the Integrated Livestock Development Project.

Nayab Yusuf said, “Such assistance will continue to enable farmers to become self-reliant through livestock rearing and increased milk production.”

She said the project is playing an important role in improving the livelihoods of farmers in the char areas across seven districts—Dhaka, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Rajbari, Faridpur, Madaripur and Shariatpur.

She also urged local farmers to increase milk production to help meet the country's protein demand.
