The Bangladesh Land Developers Association (BLDA) on Saturday urged the government to take stern action against unauthorised housing projects mushrooming across Purbachal and adjacent localities.
In a press statement signed by BLDA Secretary AKM Nowsherul
Alam, the trade body called for immediate administrative measures to halt all
illegal schemes, explicitly naming Well Care Housing, London Housing, Ascent
Town, and Ananda Housing, among others.
The association noted that taking decisive action against
entities operating without mandatory government approvals and clearance
certificates from statutory authorities has become an urgent imperative.
According to the BLDA, unauthorised land transactions,
illicit plot allotments, unplanned land development, and unregistered housing
operations are exposing home seekers to severe financial and legal liabilities.
Such practices also severely undermine planned urbanisation, environmental
conservation, and state infrastructure development.
The association further stated that the unchecked proliferation of illegal developments damages the credibility of registered, compliant developers and triggers a systemic trust crisis across the country's housing sector.
Under the circumstances, the BLDA submitted a five-point
demand to the relevant ministries, the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK), and
administrative authorities.
The demands comprise: identifying unauthorised housing
projects to initiate legal proceedings; conducting regular eviction and
enforcement drives to stop illegal plot transactions; safeguarding the
financial interests and investments of buyers; establishing a level playing
field and fair business environment for registered developers; and strengthening
coordinated regulatory monitoring across Purbachal and its adjacent areas.
Emphasising that fostering a compliant real estate sector
while curbing illegal practices is critical to protecting national economic
interests, the BLDA reaffirmed its readiness to work closely with the
government to ensure planned and secure urban growth.
