The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has recovered a motorcycle suspected to have been used by former Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) officer Flight Lieutenant KM Tahsif Sauri, whose body was found in the Turag River, as investigators continue probing his death.

Mohammad Abu Yusuf, superintendent of police (Law and Media Wing) of the PBI, said on Friday morning that the motorcycle, which had no number plate, was recovered from Mazar Basti, about 50 yards from the spot where Tahsif's body was found.

He said CCTV footage showed that the motorcycle used by Tahsif also had no number plate. Investigators suspect the recovered motorcycle belonged to him, but further verification is needed to establish its identity.

Meanwhile, the PBI has taken Dip, a younger friend whom Tahsif treated like a younger brother, into custody for questioning.

SP Abu Yusuf said Dip was picked up early Friday from the third floor of a house in Block B of Babar Road in Mohammadpur. He is the son of local resident Selim Reza and was taken to the PBI Metro North office.

Investigators want to question him because he and Tahsif went out together and spent nearly six hours together on the night before the former air force officer went missing.

As of 1:00pm on Friday, Tahsif's family had not filed a case over his death.

Chief of River Police Additional Inspector General Md Rezaul Karim said the family was still preparing to file a case. If they failed to do so, police would take legal action and file one themselves.

Tahsif left his home in Sector 18 of Uttara on his motorcycle with Dip at around 6:30pm on Tuesday. He went missing afterwards.

On Wednesday, members of the Tongi River Police Outpost recovered his body from the Turag River near Rajabari Ghat at around 4:30pm.
