The police
on Thursday night picked up Dwip, a junior friend of former Bangladesh Air
Force (BAF) Flight Lieutenant KM Tahsif Sauri, 28, in connection with the
alleged murder of the ex-military official.
The Police
Bureau of Investigation (PBI) picked up Dwip from his residence at Babar Road,
Mohammadpur, Dhaka, an official told reporters, preferring anonymity.
It was not immediately
clear where Dwip was being held.
Dwip was a
junior friend of Tahsif in the latter’s locality in Uttara. Dwip was the last
person known to have met Tahsif before the former military official went
missing on Tuesday night.
On Tuesday
evening, the two went off on two different motorbikes from Tahsif’s home at a
RAJUK project in Uttara, as per CCTV footage.
Later, Dwip told Tahsif’s family that the two hung out together for hours and even enjoyed meals together. Tahsif’s body was recovered from the Turag river next afternoon. He was buried, following an autopsy on Thursday.
