The government has warned that public officials and staffers will lose their residential facilities and face other punitive measures if tenants are found in their allotted houses after Saturday.

The Directorate of Government Accommodation under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works issued a public notification in this regard on Thursday.

As per the notification, inspection teams from the directorate recently visited housing facilities of multiple public employees and found parts or entire sections of the allotted areas were rented out to others.

These practices are serious violations of “Bangladesh Allocation Rules, 1982,” the notification read.

After Saturday, if such tenancy practice is found to continue in allotted apartments and houses, the accommodation facility for the concerned public employee will be revoked, while further disciplinary and legal actions will be taken, the notification warned.
