Seven more children die with measles-like symptoms in 24 hours

Seven more children died with measles-like symptoms across the country and 1,251 new suspected cases were reported in the past 24 hours, the health authorities said on Thursday.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 64 cases of measles were confirmed between 8am Wednesday and 8am Thursday, with no confirmed deaths during the same period.

The DGHS said that since 15 March, the total number of confirmed measles cases has stood at 23,695, while suspected cases have reached 226,357.

During the same period, 105 people died from confirmed measles, while 1,144 deaths were reported among suspected cases, bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,249.

Besides, a total of 193,301 patients have recovered so far, the DGHS said.
