The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has completed a three-day training course on reviewing competency-based training materials with support from the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

The training, titled “Conducting a Cursory Review of Competency-based Training and Assessment (CBTA) Course Materials”, was held at the Civil Aviation Academy in Dhaka from 25 to 27 October.

ICAO senior instructor Captain Mostafa Hoummady conducted the training, which brought together senior CAAB officials, training managers, instructors, pilots, air traffic controllers, flight safety officers and other aviation professionals involved in training activities.

The course aimed to strengthen participants’ knowledge and skills in reviewing training materials developed under the Competency-based Training and Assessment (CBTA) approach.

It focused on assessing the quality of training materials, ensuring compliance with international standards and improving the effectiveness of competency-based training programmes.

Prashanta Kumar Chakraborty, director of the Civil Aviation Academy and an ICAO instructor, said the training would help strengthen the capacity to develop and review quality training courses in line with international standards.

He said the initiative would also support improvements in CAAB’s training programmes, ensure the quality of training materials and help develop a skilled workforce.

At the closing and certificate distribution ceremony, Air Commodore Md Noor-e-Alam, member (ATM) of CAAB, said internationally recognised training and proper review of training materials were essential to developing a competent workforce for the civil aviation sector.

He said effective implementation of the CBTA approach would help assess trainees’ practical performance and improve the overall quality of training.

Captain Hoummady distributed certificates among the participants at the end of the course.
