BNP candidate Eliza Zaman is set to be elected unopposed in the by-election to reserved women's seat-23 after the returning officer declared her nomination valid on Tuesday.
Returning Officer Moin Uddin Khan scrutinised her nomination paper and declared it valid.
Election Commission officials said a candidate would be declared elected unopposed if she remained the sole valid candidate and did not withdraw her candidature.
According to the election schedule, 1 November is the last date for withdrawal of candidature. If she does not withdraw her nomination, she will be declared elected unopposed on that day.
The seat fell vacant after Ferdousi Ahmed Misty resigned following an instruction from BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The Election Commission is holding a by-election to fill the vacant seat.
